Film can be found on computer on the far side of the main building like the one on the 2nd left of the row of imacs facing the wall

Different Types of Camera Shots Included

There is a set criteria in which my film production has to be abided by. This is included as to show a character walking through a door through the use of match on action and to show dialogue and interaction between the characters by using shot - reverse shot. I have to show a basic ground of knowledge in contextual film making by following the 180 degree rule. I will also add more complex shots and camera positioning to allow for my film to be created specifically to how i want it.

Match on Action - A match on action is used to show a movement or action produced by the character. This would be used by creating two different shots of this action to show the significance of the movement produced. The first shot is usually from a distance and the second shot is used with a close up to show the action in greater detail.

Shot Reverse Shot - This is mainly used to show conversation and interaction with characters. This is simply depicting one character in each shot and then reverses back to the character he is interacting with. This allows for the audience to see the conversation as an onlooker and you can see emotion and movements created by each character.

180 degree rule - This rule is in place in practically all films to stop confusion amongst the audience. It states that viewers get confused when shots are used from the different side it was produced at as the characters would be on different sides than the previous shot. This ass confusion to the audience and is simply in place to stop this occurring so that characters dont switch from a left position on the screen to a right. Without this in place films wouldn't be able to flow due to the ever changing positions of the characters in each shot.

Here are some other examples of complex camera techniques i will include in my film project:

Point Of View - As i have used basketball to be the topic that my film project will be based upon i will use a POV to dramatic effect to show the projection of a basketball being shot into the net. This will break up from the norm of shots that are used and will be used specifically for entertainment purposes.

Dramatic Angle - I will use a dramatic angle to show the vast height of the basketball net in which a character will be "dunking". This shows and signifies it as a powerful movement and adds to the action based theme it will carry out.

Dolly Shot - I will also use a dolly tracking shot to depict a basketball players movement across the court to show its significance in beating his man/defender. This will be produced in fast pace to tie in with the action theme of the advertisement. I will also use another tracker shot to follow the path of the player towards his opponent whose waiting for him in the gym.

With all these angles i will also produce an array of shots varying from extreme close ups to extreme longs shots and they will be used to significance and meaning.

Research Into Similar Media Texts

I have researched into similar texts referring to characters walking though a door and have the following films that i revised from. The Matrix, Action Hero and spiderman. Here are the storyboards i have produced to show the significant 6 camera shots that is carried out. This allows me to compare each one and to decide on which is used most frequent and does it tie in with what i want out of my own film myself.

The Matrix

Action Hero

Spiderman

How Will the Film Be Produced_

I will produce the film on iMovie on an apple computer. Although i haven't used movie making software i have played about with it and found it easily accessible and can navigate my way round with ease. By using standard hand held cameras to produce and shoot the film along with tripod shots to produce effective dolly tracking shot this is how my film will be filmed. I have set up with the sports staff alloted times in which the basketball court is free to film. After i have filmed the specific shots thats required i will then edit it accordingly on the apple software iMovie to "smooth" the film over and produce shots in occurence with each other to get a flowing film. I will also need to edit time between shots and the avergae length of each shot needs to be recorded so that it can tie in my idea of being an action advertisement to grip the audience and keep the focus point on the advertisement. I will also use music to go along with the film to fit in with the genre it represents to create an overall sound performance and product. I also need to assign actors, although this wont be too difficult as i only need two that feature in my film.

Target Audience_

The target audience for my film/advertisement is sports fans, in specific terms basketballers. I want my film to be a 1:30 long advertisement for a new basketball shoe that can produce added Power, Speed and Strength to a basketballers game. My target audience will therefore be roughly 10 - 35 year olds. I have researched this fact and found out that is the age other sporting companies such as Adidas and Nike base their target audience upon.

My Plan of The Film

I have been allowed access to the local sports hall after school where the film will be shot and take place. I have accompanied with me a filmer, Dean Layzell and another actor Jacob Wysmuller to accompany me in producing the film. I've set out to use the camera angles given and place it in a dramatic way to entertain an audience istead of go for the simple, rule confiding options. By abiding by the rules of shots being evident i will conduct a basketball advert for Nike, the leading brand for basketball equipment on the market. I will array these shots to portray myself as acquiring great skill within basketball to solely aim to attract an audience to buy nike basketball. Hinting that you will become as great as the basketballer on screen if you buy the product.

I wanted to create it to make it action-packed and to stand out. I experimented a little myself by editing toghether fast paced clips to see the desired flow i would require for my film. I therefore planned that i was going to use fast paced clips to attract a desired, (basketball fans) audience.

The first slide is designed to show a basketball player walking down a corridor. A long shot turning into a medium close up shot is used to add empahasis on this player. It shows his more elite. A match on action is then used to show this player opening the door, if by filming the door opening three different times i would be able to get the desired effect and use a close up of a hand to show the door opening, followed by a long shot over the shoulder of another player. I will be using shot - reverse shot to show interaction between the two set of players. By both players playing a game of one-on-one i will include a shot reversey shot to show each players views and interaction with each other between / aswell as dialogue included. I will include alot of match on action to provide entertainment to an audience to give different view points of shots taken by the players going into the basket. In a way to add abit of "sexiness" to the film and imagery.

Evaluation

In conclusion i will evaluate my film by assesing it's stronghold and, more vitally its weaker aspects. I will do this by awnsering the evaluating questions provided and also give my own insight and interpreatation on how the film went.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My media convention uses all things required to produce the task that have been set and standardised in modern day usage in terms of film production and editing. I have confered to the 180 degree rule in my media, an application of shot - reverse shot has been used twice and also match on action has been used to great effect four times. I have done so to produce added effects and create a wide range of viewing for an audience. Not neccessarily having a wide spread audience i couldn't really challenege any conventions of media production but to simply justify them in their rightuous place and to have them featured in my film to signify that this film has been edited properly yet wisely.
